Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams is the daughter of
Sandra Kay (Gale), an Ontario nurse, and Lance Frederick McAdams a truck driver
as well as furniture movers. Her birthplace was in London, Ontario on November
17th in 1978. Rachel is of English, Welsh, Irish, and Scottish descent. Rachel
began acting as a teenager. By the age 13 she was participating in
Shakespearean productions at the summer theater camps. Following graduation,
Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in Theater. After her role in
Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson episode (1998) and later, she appeared in
Slings and Arrows, a Canadian comedy-drama that follows the trials and triumphs
of the Slings and Arrows Shakespearean theater group. In 2003, she won an award
called a Gemini award. Her role as Regina George, in Mean Girls (2004),
instantly made her a star on Hollywood's most sought-after young actors. After
the film, she was cast alongside Ryan Gosling in The Notebook (2004). It was a
smash in the box office and was soon the top romantic drama for the new
generation of moviegoers. After filming, McAdams and Gosling became
romantically linked and began dating through the middle of 2007. McAdams is
next in film with comedy Wedding Crashers (2006), the thriller Red Eye (2004),
as well as the holiday-themed drama The Family Stone ((2005)). McAdams also
explored independent filmmaking through Married Life (2007) which premiered at
Toronto Film Festival. It also featured Pierce Brosnan and Chris Cooper, as
well as Patricia Clarkson. After appearing in The Lucky Ones, a military drama
State of Play, and The Time Traveler's Wife (2009) McAdams starred alongside
Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's international blockbuster
Sherlock Holmes. McAdams was the fiery producer of a failed morning television
show in Morning Glory (2010), the romantic fiancee of materialistic Owen Wilson
in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris (2011) as well as a return to the romantic
drama genre in the hit film The Vow (2012) opposite Channing Tatum. The actress
also stars with Ben Affleck in Terrence Malick's To the Wonder (2012) and also
alongside Noomi Rapace in Brian de Palma's thriller Passion (2012).In 2005,
McAdams received ShoWest's "Supporting Actress of the Year" Award as
well as the "Breakthrough Actress of the Year" at the Hollywood Film
