Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, an actor and musician is well-known for his tough-edged roles or funny characters in action films. He has been in over $2.5 billion in films. Walter Bruce Willis was born on March 19 1955 in Idar-Oberstein, West Germany, to a German mother, Marlene Kassel, and an American father, David Andrew Willis (from Carneys Point, New Jersey) they were living on a United States military base. His family moved to U.S. shortly after he was born. He was raised in Penns Grove, New Jersey in which his mother worked at a bank and his father worked as a welder as well as a factory worker. Willis was drawn to drama in high school. While working at the New York City café, it was reported that he was "discovered". Then, he appeared in a variety of off-Broadway shows. He was bartending when a casting director spotted his charisma and asked to cast him as an bartender in a short film. After countless auditions Willis was credited with a couple of film appearances, usually uncredited, before getting the role of private eye "David Addison" along with sultry Cybill Shepherd in the smash romantic comedy TV series Moonlighting (1985). His sarcastic, wisecracking P.I. is one of the most memorable of his career. is considered by some to be a dry run for the role of hard-boiled NYC detective "John McClane" in the horror film Die Hard (1988), in which Willis his character fought the ruthless international thieves within the Los Angeles skyscraper. He reprised the role of McClane in the sequel, Die Hard 2 (1990) that was set at snowy Washington's Dulles International Airport as a group of renegade Special Forces soldiers seek to get back an infamous South American general. The success of the film at the box office prompted the sequel, Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995) which, this time co-starring Samuel L. Jackson as an obnoxious Harlem shop owner who is accidentally dragged into supporting McClane in a bombing campaign during a hot day in New York.
